Source of HR Questions on the Exam
Solution Question:
I have noticed that some of your questions in the e-SIM do not directly relate to the PMBOK. Why is this, and is it similar to what I will see in the PMP exam?

PMP Expert's Answer:
Although it is not officially written anywhere - it is assumed that approximately 60% of the questions on the PMP exam can be referenced back to some aspect of the PMBOK. The other 40% is a free for all from many sources of information. Of all the knowledge areas - in my opinion, the HR section is the weakest on content since PM gets its roots or foundation from the general management practices which of course is heavy on the HR discipline. Most the questions on HR can be referenced back to Kerzner 8th edition and Human Resource Skills for the Project Manager: The Human Aspects of Project Management, Volume Two by Vijay K. Verma which are both recommended PMPR study aids from the PMI web site. I encourage you to read the HR condensed notes located in the training centre as there are some very good summary notes and facts not found in the PMBOK.
